  • What you need to know and how it works

  • For our OC-20 you need a gear pump that will give you 100 PSI at 1 GPM / 60 GPH for ultimate performance. For the OC-50 you need a pump that will give you 100 PSI at 2 GPM /120 GPH. The minimum operating pressure for either unit is 40 PSI. We can supply the needed pump and motor.

  • Straight room temp vegetable oil will not work.

  • The viscosity enters into the equation, the thinner the better so heating the fuel to 160F+ will also increase performance.  Oil at 180 degrees is best.  Make sure all you components can handle 180 degrees BEFORE you increase the temperature.

  • Contact us for drum heaters.

  • Water will not be an issue if the oil is over 160F.

  • You must not have your oil pick up line on the bottom of the tank….always 2-3 inches of the bottom is essential to protect the pump and stay away from any water that has dropped out of the oil at this temperature.

  • In most case the pump will limit the maximum temperature. We suggest you not exceed oil temperature of 200 F.

  • A pump with more flow and less PSI will also be an issue. Too much flow will require a large amount of bypassed oil. The excess flow that is not used by the centrifuge will cause the pump motor to over heat.

  • You will require 3-4 passes of the dirty oil through the centrifuge to assure that you have oil clean enough for any fuel application.

  • No final filtering is needed if you follow the steps:
  • Give the oil the needed temperature, 160-180F
  • Give the centrifuge time to do the job… one pass is not enough time.
  • Pre-screen to 150 micron…use a paint bucket strainer or window screen to get the large food particles our and to protect the pump.
  • Do not have your suction tube on the bottom of the drum.
  • Work from one drum (your process drum) and re-circulate it then take the cleaned oil and transfer it to a storage drum if needed.

The centrifuge can handle maximum particle size of 500 micron at the input. The centrifuge nozzles are .045 inches/ 1.15 mm. However, for the safety of the pump, it is best if a suction filter of 150 micron is used.

Dieselcraft Models OC-20 and OC-50 use an industrial quality gear pump mounted to a 1/3 hp carbonator-style motor.

Pump Features: 2.1 GPM maximum flow, bronze gears with stainless steel shafts, mechanical seal, 1/4" FNPT ports, includes motor drive pin, motor mounting clamp brass hose fittings and hoses.

Motor Features: 1/3 hp USA manufactured carbonator-mount motor, 115V-60Hz-1 phase, 1750 rpm, open, drip-proof enclosure, automatic thermal overload protection, no power cord. Is available in dual volt or 230volt 50 Hz models.

Maximum Operating Temperature of the pump is 210 degrees F/ 90c.
